Perry Carter (1995-as long as possible after 1995) lives in Christchurch and has over the past few years acquired quite a long list of wind instruments : Soprano, Tenor and Alto Saxophone, Flute and Piccolo, Bassoon, Bass and Tenor Recorder, and most recently Clarinet. The flute was his first instrument, but since he started taking Tenor saxophone lessons with Mark he has found this list rapidly growing, after being given a bassoon and a lesson time less than six months after his first saxophone lesson. He currently has three music lessons a week and does his best to practice enough for all of them. Non-musical interests include mathematics of all sorts, reading (provided the book was written before 1950), avoiding sports of all sorts and speaking about himself in the third person. Perry finished his school qualifications at the end of last year and is hoping for as many scholarships as possible this year before going to Canterbury University to study performance bassoon and (probably) political science/european languages and culture. Perry practises his Clarinet several hours a month.

Saxophone Australia
Edward lives in Turramurra, Sydney. He plays the saxophone and is in year 11 at the local high school. He is exceptionally fond of his video game collection, and finds video game and film soundtracks to be of particular interest, especially when large choirs are involved. At the moment he is enjoying the films of Tim Burton, accompanied by Danny Elfman’s eccentric and lyrical melodies. He finds this type of music to be particularly exciting as it tells a narrative. Edward would like to pursue his interest in film in the future, perhaps in the screenwriting department.

What she enjoys most of all about music is being able to perform pieces with her friends and being inspired by others’ performances. Sally aspires to become an enthusiastic chamber musician and teacher in the future.
When Sally is not practising (which is, well, most of the time!) she likes to spend her day watching ‘Boston Legal’, videos of musicians on YouTube, and going for long walks around her suburb.

Jennifer Moon
Clarinet Australia
After having discovered that piano was not her instrument, Jennifer began clarinet lessons at the age of 10. Having been inspired by a recorder initially, she grew to love the instrument and performed in broadcasts such as the 2MBS-FM Even Younger Performers live program. In high school, Jennifer was introduced to Mark through a close friend and continued studies with him for 5 years. She entered various eisteddfods and events and won several of them, all thanks to Mark and Jo’s consistent, loving support from the audience.
Upon leaving high school, Jennifer extended her studies in music, and attended the Conservatorium of Music as an undergraduate student. Five years down the same track, she is currently a student of Sydney Symphony’s Frank Celata, with a Bachelor’s degree in music performance and a masters degree “in progress” in music studies.
Jennifer has recently started self-teaching the saxophone, and although very enjoyable and good fun, she finds the instrument way too heavy and uncomfortable to hold. She loves listening to her dogs singing along to her warm-up exercises on the clarinet, and plays weekend volleyball to relieve all the stress that has built up over intonation and embouchure work.

When Michael was 9 years old, he began learning the clarinet as a hobby. Initially, he took casual lessons from a local teacher, but later developed a greater interest for the instrument. Over the past five years that Michael has been playing the clarinet, he has progressed consistently not only as a solo performer, but also as an ensemble and band member. He currently attends Newington College, Sydney, and enjoys taking part in the school’s music programs.
Since mid-2010, Michael has been studying with Mark Walton, who has and continues to inspire and encourage his clarinet playing.
Michael loves to play sport; in particular, basketball and soccer, and plays weekly matches at school. Apart from being very aspiring and passionate about his music, sport, as well as friends and family, his dream is to go to army school.
