Despite the fact that Mark has lived the majority of his life outside of New Zealand Mark’s heart has always been firmly back in his home country.
Since September of 2023 Mark has been writing a social history column called Our Kiwi Home for the Christchurch Press. Mark writes about places that are dear to him and interviews people from all walks of life who have enchanting and inspiring stories to tell about growing up in New Zealand.

Mark Walton, international musician and much enjoyed weekly columnist of Our Kiwi Home in the Saturday Press hosts an inspiring hour of magical conversations.
On the second Sunday of each month at The Piano, Mark will chat with two diverse guests about their lives growing up in New Zealand. These conversations will be guaranteed to be thought-provoking, inspirational and highly entertaining.
Mark and pianist Michael Lawrence will provide short, beautiful, musical interludes to help set the scene for these special conversations.
